Sharon Rae (Powers) Newbury, of Billings, Mont., passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Hospital on Sunday morning, April 14, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Sharon was born in Washington, Kan, to George and Irene Powers. She was the older sister of Mary Lynn.

In her teenage years, Sharon moved to Chehalis, Washington, where she graduated high school. It was here where she met the love of her life, a handsome Marine named Pat, and began her grand adventure that would last the next 63 years. Their adventures took them to Hawaii, California, back home to Washington and, finally, to Montana, which the entire Newbury clan has called home now for 20 years. Along the way they were blessed by their children, Rae Lynn (1961), John (1966), and Chris (1970).

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, George and Irene Powers; and her sister, Mary Lynn. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Pat; her children, Rae Lynn and Scott Smith, John and Tracy Newbury, Chris and Shannon Newbury; her six grandchildren, Ashleyanna and Zack Hassman, Jake Newbury, Grace Newbury, Matthew Newbury, Natalie Newbury, and Nathan Newbury; one great-grandchild, James Hassman, and one more on the way come September that she was very excited to meet.

Our family cannot express enough how grateful we are for the outpouring of love and support that we have received from so many during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you consider making a donation to the Ronald McDonald House of Billings or a charity that speaks to your heart.

Memorial Service was April 23 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2055 Woody Drive. Condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www. michelottisawyers.com.
